J-LOC 5C
Machinable Expanding I. D. Collet
Turning procedure |
|
Step 1 |
Install collet in
collet chuck using the J-LOC installation and removal spanning wrench.
Screw the collet in until the collet clamps the i.d. of the wrench.
Un-screw the collet until the wrench is released. (1/4 - 1/2
turn)
Line up the
appropriate anti-rotation screw in the chuck body with the key way in the
collet body.
The anti-rotation screw should only align with the
sides of the key way in the collet. This screw is not used to
clamp against the collet body |
 |
|
Step 2 |
Remove the collet wrench and install the machining clamp ring on the
collet.
Clamp the collet on the i.d. of the clamp ring.
(Collet must be clamped on the clamp ring in
order to machine the holding diameter)
(Do not actuate
the collet without a clamp ring or a work part on the clamping
surface.) |
 |
|
Step 3 |
Machine the J-LOC machinable i.d. collet to the desired size and
holding depth not to exceed the maximum depth and minimum diameter
specified for the collet being used. The collet will expand up
to .020" over the machined size.
(Do not machine into the
clamp ring)
(Do not actuate the collet without a clamp ring or a work part
on the clamping surface.) |
 |
|
Step 4 |
Remove the machining clamp ring |
 |
|
Step 5 |
Install and clamp on the work part to be machined.
(Do not clamp the collet without a work part
on the holding surface. This may cause damage to the collet)
